Verily, Allah loves the servant who is pious, free of wants, and inconspicuous

Arabic hadith text

عن سعد بن أبي وقاص رضي الله عنه قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:

عن سعد بن أبي وقاص رضي الله عنه قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: «إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ».

English translation

Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say:

Explanation of the hadith

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out that Allah Almighty loves some of His servants, including the pious: those who fulfill Allah's commands and avoid His prohibitions. And He loves those free from wants: those who dispense with people and only resort to Allah Almighty and turn to none but Him. And He loves the inconspicuous: those who are modest and worship their Lord and only concern themselves with what benefits them, and they do not care about being recognized or praised by others.
